It would not be incorrect to say that the painter Nenne Sanguineti Poggi has captured like no other contemporary artist the essence and soul of her beloved Eritrea and Ethiopia. Her works dedicated to these countries span over 70 years of study and experience; they exceptionally depict their peoples, their nature, beliefs, and religions; and offer a precious legacy of a world that in many ways is rapidly disappearing.

Known for a certain period as the painter of Emperor Haile Selassie, her tireless brush and large public works in mosaic and ceramics were known and admired not only in East Africa and the Near East but also in Europe and the United States. This site, created to commemorate her recent passing at the age of 103, offers a broad although incomplete retrospective of her works and the beauty and creative depth that the artist left behind, a living testament to her intimate life; and a showcase of the works still available to be admired and purchased.
