A hike between millennia of history and unspoiled nature, along one of the most fascinating stretches of the Via Romana Iulia Augusta, the ancient roadway that connected Rome to Gaul.
The route winds through the Sciusa and Ponci valleys, two green hollows where time seems to have stopped. Here, in a cool and shady environment, lie the five Roman bridges (1st-2nd century AD), masterpieces of engineering that still today tell the story of the Empire’s builders.
Their elegant arches, perfectly integrated into the landscape, testify to the meeting of technique and harmony.
Among them, the legendary Bridge of the Fairies is the most spectacular: perfectly preserved and still in use, it seems suspended between myth and reality, a guardian of centuries of crossings and legends.
The itinerary also touches upon the Roman Quarries, where stone was extracted to build bridges and roads, and culminates at the Arma delle Manie, a majestic natural cavity that housed human settlements since prehistoric times.
