The Diamond Tower in Castle Gavone: reading a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance architecture

The Diamond Tower in Castle Gavone is one of the reference masterpieces of Italian fortified architecture from the late 15th century, with references to buildings designed by important architects including the Sienese Francesco Di Giorgio Martini. Built around 1490, it was transformed in the following century to adapt to the residential needs of the marquis family. During the visit, the architectural and construction characteristics of the building will be explored for the purposes of its appropriate conservation and enhancement through an updated reinterpretation.
