Boxeur is the story of two boxers who, after fighting in the ring, find themselves battling against war. We are in the years of fascism and nazism: World War II is at the door. Eugenio and Victor are two immigrants seeking fortune in France. Eugenio is an Italian socialist worker escaping from fascism. Victor is a Tunisian Jew fleeing from misery. Their destinies will cross in a boxing match scheduled before the outbreak of World War II in Paris and then postponed due to the war itself.
For them, boxing is not just a sport: it is a dream of redemption, it is an act of liberation, it is the possibility of aspiring to a better life.
The story of these two men transforms from personal to collective: Eugenio becomes the worker-boxer fighting for the rights of all workers exploited like him. Victor becomes the symbol of all those who do not bow their heads even in front of nazifascism.
The narrative takes us back to 1946 when finally Eugenio and Victor can face each other in the ring.
