From the legendary Nato Base to the landscapes of Le Manie
Our private guided tour starts at the Ex-NATO Base, which functioned as an active military base from 1962 to 1992. Today, it serves as a popular meeting point for bikers from all over the world and the starting point for several trails. The first single lift of the day takes around 35-40 minutes to reach the NATO Base, where the guided tour begins. You’ll have various options to choose from, ranging from the natural flow of the Mother Nature Trail to the more technical sections of Trail 115. After a few minutes of pedaling, you’ll come across the Crestino Trail – a long and sweeping trail that takes you through a beautiful beech forest.
We will start our journey from the nature trail of Aia du Preve and move towards the Rock Garden of the Supergroppo trail. Then, we will head to Rocche Gianche (Bianche) where we can enjoy stunning views of the Finale plateau. We will take a coffee break in Vezzi-Portio before continuing our journey to the Altopiano delle Manie plateau. Here, we will cycle uphill for 20-30 minutes, covering an altitude difference of 110 meters. However, the scenic beauty of the area will make the climb easier to manage. Our next destination is BRIC Dei Monti (410m), from where we will take the Trail Andrassa. This trail is a perfect mix of rock, adrenaline, and fun.
Finally, we have reached the Manie plateau, where we can embark on the last trail of the morning. We have three options to choose from – the easy Ponti Romani link, the moderately challenging Briga Sinistra trail, or the steep and rocky DH Women or DH Men trails, which offer a stunning view of Varigotti. Once we have taken in the turquoise sea of Varigotti, we will cycle towards Finale Ligure, where we will be treated to a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, a single climb will take us back to Base Nato, where we will discuss and decide together which trails to tackle based on your technical level.
